How I’ve missed something as good as a strawberry – banana smoothie all these years is beyond me. So for October, I decided to start searching various websites, blogs and Pinterest for good drink ideas and found one that looked good but needed a little tweaking to make it really stand out.
So after a few failed attempts at getting the right consistency and flavor, I finally figured out that a tablespoon of honey made it just right. Even though you can’t really taste the honey, it somehow brings out the sweetness in both the strawberries and the bananas.
I tried this with fresh room temperature bananas, very ripe room temperature bananas, and very ripe frozen bananas. All of which were good, but the frozen ones in my opinion were just better. Maybe it’s my imagination, maybe not, but in the future when I make this smoothie, I’ll begin by freezing the banana.
Strawberry - Banana smoothie
- 1 Cup Whole Milk (you can use other types of milk if you have one that you prefer)
- 5-8 Strawberries (The more you use, the pinker the smoothie gets)
- 1 Large Banana (I used a frozen one)
- ¾ Cup Rolled Oats
- 1 Tsp. Vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. Honey
Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
