If you are one of those people with a serious sweet habit this is the perfect dessert drink for you. For me it was a little bit over the top and I like sweet. I’ve laughed at those desserts called ‘death by chocolate’ and triple chocolate cakes, but this one will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth, guaranteed.
I’ve seen a few different versions of hot fudge floats, but this one is by far and away the best tasting, even though you’ll feel the sweetness before you actually drink it. I would suggest that you attempt this one with a very small mug or glass to make sure that you aren’t wasting most of it.
The cool part about this is that you are pretty much unlimited in your choice of chocolates to add into the mix. I’ve seen some recipes that swap out the dark chocolate for bittersweet, so choose what you like best and go for it. I’ve even seen some that add all three. You can also use your favorite flavor of ice cream, I simply chose vanilla as its traditional for a float.
Hot chocolate float
- Hot fudge sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cups milk
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 oz. dark chocolate (chopped)
- 4 oz. milk chocolate (chopped)
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
Mix the cream, milk, brown sugar, vanilla in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally, until it starts to simmer.
Remove from heat and whisk in the chopped chocolates, stirring until they are melted.
Place a couple of scoops of ice cream into a glass/mug. Pour the hot chocolate on top of the ice cream and enjoy. Feel free to add whipped cream on top for extra fun.
