Every time that I think that I’ve seen it all when it comes to chocolate and peanut butter desserts I stumble across another one. I was glancing around some of my favorite food blogs when I saw this one by Melissa’s Southern style kitchen.
If you are not already following her blog, I would highly recommend doing so. As soon as I saw the chocolate peanut butter bars, I know that it would be one that I had to make. Honestly, is there any better dessert than chocolate and peanut butter?
So when I pinned this dessert my mind automatically began to wonder how could I make this hit all the things that I like most. So the first step started with choosing Ghirardelli chocolate and swapping in crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy.
Next was an obvious choice of swapping out the cornflakes for cocoa krispies for that added chocolaty flavor.
Chocolate and peanut butter bars
- 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (I recommend Ghirardelli)
- 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 3 cups cocoa Rice Krispies
Place the chocolate chips, peanut butter, honey and butter into a medium saucepan.
Cook at a medium heat until mixture is smooth.
Stir-in the rice krispies. Mix well.
Line an 8 x 8-inch pan with parchment paper. Spread the mixture evenly into the pan.
Chill until firm for at least 2-4 hours.
