As a photographer who lacks true cooking and baking skills I am always searching for the easiest recipes. When I saw an apple crumble dessert, I thought that I would have to try it. Of course I wanted to make it as easy as possible and kind of cheated on some parts. The first step was to find pie filling. Now you can certainly make your own, and will probably taste even better, but I still struggle with that step, so canned pie filling for me.
Making the crisp part is also a task that I cannot for the life of me master yet. It sounds so simple when you see the recipes, but it escapes me every time I attempt it, so I cheated on this part also and went with oatmeal cookie mix as a topper. From there, it is just a matter of popping it into the oven for 15 minutes and serving warm.
- 2 cans apple pie filling (I went with cinnamon apple)
- 2 cups oatmeal cookie mix
- 4 tbsp butter melted
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Preheat oven to 400F.
Divide pie filling evenly in 4 oven safe bowls.
Combine cookie mix and butter with a fork. This takes a bit of an effort.
Crumble some additional cookie mixture over the pie filling.
